Organizing a closet is not always an easy or happy task. But organizing a small one is definitely a challenge. When we moved into our new house, there was a wall niche in an area that lead to all of the rooms (and perhaps was used in the past to display some kind of art, or even sculptures).
Because we are a family of five, a lot of space is needed to store some of the things we don’t use on a daily basis. So we took away the glass shelves and opened up the top and bottom of the space to create the effect of a closet, but without doors.
Now that the area was exposed, I needed a solution that would both look good and function as an organizational station. I found my answer at HomeGoods, where some industrial-inspired wire and fabric baskets now hide all of our “stuff.”
Aside from the baskets, the trick to making this space a bit more appealing was to create a visual balance. I made this possible by alternating wire and fabric baskets, one on each side. Because I had some space leftover on the sides, I used it to put away some of my styling props.
The wire baskets are perfect for organizing large objects that are okay to see, while the fabric ones hide all of our sheet sets and some of the towels.
I couldn’t be happier with the look and with how well these baskets conceal what perhaps could have ended up looking like a mess!
