You still love your bedroom furniture, but it was time to replace (okay, passed time) your mattress. You want to get a king-size bed this time. Really, the old queen-size just won’t hold you, your spouse and the children who wander in throughout the night.
Or maybe you’re ready to redecorate the whole room, but you don’t want everything to match. You’re going to bravely try the newest trend of buying pieces you love even if they don’t match perfectly.
I wish I’d had some of these creative ideas when we bought our iron headboard. I really like today’s decorating options. Really, design possibilities are as great as our imaginations. Just look at some of these wonderful headboard options.

Maybe you’d prefer to personalize your space with family photos. Hang them on the wall or stand them on shelves, shown here from Country Living, either works well.
This may be my favorite idea of all, also featured on Country Living. This mirror is gorgeous and it makes the room look huge.
Do you love flea markets? This headboard from Better Homes and Gardens is made of dresser drawers painted to match. You could paint the back, or line it with paper or fabric. This is a great option that provides extra storage, too.
Finally, another one of my favorites from The Old Painted Cottage. This antique mantel padded and upholstered is beautiful. And it offers a shelf for art, candles, mirrors, etc.
